The Princess & the Frog!

by princessrachy on Jul.24, 2010, under Blog

frogSo many times I have heard people share the story of the frog and his environment! If you put a frog in cold water and slowly turn the heat up then the frog doesn’t acknowledge or realise that the temperature of the water is changing and therefore eventually the water begins to boil and the frog dies! Second option, bring the water to the boil first of all and then place the frog into the boiling water, the frog immediately jumps out of the water as it is able to acknowledge the temperate of the water and therefore jump for his life! Please do not test this experiment out with a frog, instead I would ask you to trust me that this is correct, I’m not going to tell you how I know that it is true!

Think about an environment that you spend lots of time in! It can be an environment that you love to spend time in you’re an environment that you find challenging! For the frog these two environments were both challenging, one of the environments he knew was a challenge and therefore jumped out and one environment he didn’t realise was a challenge and therefore died! Which frog are you?

Think back 10 years ago, what environments did you spend most of your time in back then? Was it the same environments as it is now 10 years later! Think about your relationships environments or job environments over the past 10 years!

I have been very blessed in the last 10 years to be exposed and connect to many, many, many different environments, living in 4 different countries and experiencing different cultures and being exposed to many different vales and beliefs! This has certainly impacted me, in a way that it has enabled to stop and look at my environments and my thoughts along my journey. Personally in the past, when I have been in an environment it has been difficult to measure the temperature whereas now I know the what environments I love to be surrounded by both for short and long periods of time! I love red hot water for a bath for a short period of time……lol!

Let me give you a personal example 10 years ago I dated a guy for about 18 months, during this time he cheated on me a number of times, close to double figures I would estimate! I was aware that he was cheating and I made excuses every time to myself and the people around me, I told myself that there was a reason why it happened and that it was ok and he had bought me a gift to say sorry so that made it ok (I am laughing my head off just writing this as it really doesn’t sound like me now…..lol!!)! Back then I wasn’t aware of the temperature of my water or at what temperature I wanted my relationship water to be at! Now looking back if I dated someone who cheated then just like the frog in the boiling water I would be jumping out immediately as I know myself and I know my own vales and beliefs, along with loving and valuing myself!

I ask you to check the temperature of the water that you are living in on a regular basis! Do you know what temperature that you are currently living in? What temperature is your survival mode? What is the temperature of your dreams?

3 Questions that Successful Women ask themselves!

by princessrachy on Jun.14, 2010, under Blog

kim kiyosakiMwah! I spent the weekend at the National Achievers Congress in London. Listening and being inspired by some world’s best speakers regarding wealth and finance. Amongst many inspiring people the one who stood out for me was Kim Kiyosaki. Kim shares a passion for educating women about money and investing. She shared her story, the first property that she bought, giving her a positive cashflow of just $25 per month. The first step was taken; she followed the same process and soon has a portfolio of 30 properties and now thousands!

Kim discussed the importance of having your dream and your vision. The one thing that can keep you going when things can get tough for you because at some point it is likely that this may get tough but I ask you ‘what keeps you going during these times?’. She shared something that really stood out for me and I wanted to share with you with my own thoughts and questions added in too. There are 3 questions that highly successful Women ask themselves:

1. What do you do in your spare time?

Are you spending this time watching Eastenders or Big Brother? Are you spending your spare time reading the negative messages from the media or Heat Magazine telling you how you must look and be? What could you be doing with that time instead? When you look back on your life will you be really proud that you spent days, months and years of your life doing these activities in your spare time?

2. Who do you take advice from?

Are you taking advice from someone who has actually walked in the steps that you want to walk in or someone you are inspired by! Or are you taking advice from someone who has sat on the sideline watching others take the steps and then pointing at the others who are taking action when they make a mistake! I can always tell the difference, did they start the conversation with ‘I’ or was it ‘I once knew someone who knew someone who’. I know where I would rather take advice from. My advice to you is to find someone who has want you want or someone who has achieved what you want to achieve and shadow them. How does this person become your mentor?

3. Who are the people that you spend the most amount of time with?

Are you hanging out with successful people, who share the same dreams and aspirations as you, people who are wealthy, healthy and inspiring you or are you hanging out with people who are moaning about being bored with life and telling you that you can’t do that and laughing at your ideas, suggestions or dreams!

The challenge for many people is that in my experience ‘dream stealers’ can come disguised as friends and family. They mean well and are often coming from a place of love however there limited knowledge or ignorance can lead to unhelpful information and we allow this to alter our decision. Find people who will inspire you and spend time with them!

In 1996 Kim & her husband Robert developed the ‘Cashflow’ board game this is something that myself and the Birmingham Yes Group team play every month of the third Thursday and every time I play the game I gain a valuable lesson in terms of how I am playing the game of life! If you are based in the midlands please join us for Cashflow!

Twas the night before Christmas…..

by princessrachy on Dec.24, 2009, under Blog

christmas-tree-main_fullTwas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse! The Princess sat, pondered and decided to share some thoughts……..

As December draws to the end I have been reflecting on what the past 12 months. Throughout the year I looked at my vision board everyday…… however now I find myself looking at it and seeing what I have attracted into my life this year! I have travelled more than ever, visiting Cyprus, New York, Miami, Texas, Portugal, Romania and one of my favourites……. Dorset! My vision and dreams are clearer everyday! My business opportunities grow and grow! I love the Princess!

Whilst reflecting over the past 12 months, I realised that it is also the end of the first decade within our New Millennium and so I began to think about how my life has developed and the journey I have taken during this time. One of the most special parts of this journey is the people that have joined the ride over the past 10 years. I laugh out loud as I think …….. I can’t remember what life was like before these people entered my life. However I’m very lucky that I have an amazing family and life long friends who have been with me along the journey for over 20 years……. For which I am grateful everyday.

Lol…..oh, the University days….. I met Shell, Becks n Caz (& Elaine)! The Uni days we shared and all the magical moments we have shared since leaving University! The late night giggles living together, the sunbed, the spider on Shell’s back, Sunday Roasts for a dozen people, creating the picture wall, Bar-Non and then since….. Take That concerts……Take That dance at every opportunity, SPICE Girls reunion and this year sharing the very special moment of celebrating the love of Shell & Alex’s wedding in Portugal. We each uniquely have our own qualities and special individual bonds, bring us together and we’re like all the colours of the rainbow……. Bring us together and you find the pot of gold….. Magic!

This decade also saw the commencement of my Personal Development journey……. Positive, Positive, Positive! Towards the end of 2004 I was exposed to Marcus Child and You Can If You Think You Can (thank you Marriott)! At the end of this course I was also given a copy of Stephen Covey, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, it has taken until 2009 for me to read it (journeys don’t always follow the straight path, that’s what makes it more interesting!) It was also at this time I met my first mentor, George Adamides, who gave me my first PD book, Michael Heppell, How to Be Brilliant! George and his famous Sister Efrosyni have been amazing mentors and friends in both my personal and business paths! I know we have an amazing awesome adventure in 2010 and beyond! You both rock!

Wow….. the more I think the more people there are to write about……. if you’re reading this then you’re already very special to me!  Love you!

One last thought……….Dream Big for 2010

Zig Ziglar puts it perfectly – There is only one thing worse than being blind, to be able to see but have no vision in life!

The gift I give to you to take with you into 2010 is dream bigger, laugh louder, smile wider, stand taller and be true to yourself!

I LOVE Contribution! Great Ormond Street Hospital

by princessrachy on Dec.13, 2009, under Blog

gosh1Last week our InterContinental Hotel Group North & Central Sales team raised an AWESOME £2,260 for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Let me hear a big Whoop Whoop for the team…..!!

Our team met bright and early for a fun-filled fab…tastic day of activities! There were activities set up at both the hotel and around the local area. We had one team cycling from our hotel in Birmingham over to Brierley Hill, to be greeted by our Regional Sales Team. Back at the hotel we had a team outside the reception of the hotel, washing cars all day by hand…… well done…… in got chilly in the afternoon! After popping for a quick cup of team in the afternoon to come out and find a line of 4 more cars……. Quick state management change and remember why we are doing this….. the cup of tea had to wait!!

Inside the hotel we had a running machine and bike set up on the lobby, adjacent to a very entertaining tombola! Guests couldn’t get into the hotel without purchasing tickets, sponsoring or leaving there keys with the team! The atmosphere was electric…… a really vibrant buzz around the whole hotel!

I LOVE contribution and it is something I think of most days….. mmmmm…… what can I do today for contribution?  I also re-learnt how much fun contribution often is! When often buzzing around in our everyday busy ‘Corporate Sales World’ we find ourselves not always being present to the task or conversation we are undertaking at that moment. Instead we’re thinking about the last negotiation or the drive to the next appointment……. I often ask myself if there is any point in being there if we’re not present (anyway that’s another blog). By spending the day together the team and our relationships benefited. Whilst doing each of these activities the team had the chance to get to know one another ‘what are you doing for Christmas?’, laughing at how red I went whilst running, pulling together when energy levels dropped cleaning cars in the cold!

We don’t know specifically where the £2,260 will go to however all I know is that it could buy……..

  • £25 could buy a toy specially designed for a child with special needs
  • £60 could purchase a machine to measure growth in babies
  • £71 could buy a pain relief machine
  • £125 could house a parent with their child for one week
  • £1,650 could buy an oximeter to monitor oxygen levels in the blood

For anyone who would still like to donate or sponsor our team please see the link

Thank you to all the people who donated, sponsored and support our event!
